The world is all sorts of crazy in 2025. What a ride it has been - who knows what side is up right now?? Despite all the drama and trauma happening in the world at large, I've been here, doing what I can in my little corner of the universe to bring whatever light and hope I can through song. As the world teeters on disaster (or breakthru?) in a myriad of ways - from the escalation of war and saber-rattling of nuclear armed nations, to the polarization and entrenchment of our political and philosophical dialogues, to our seemingly blind foray into out of control technology, to the dismantling of our political systems - you name it, the world is pretty dang turbulent and undetermined right now.
I was journaling one morning towards the beginning of the New Year, and in pondering how I could offer my songs as service and in service to a really topsy turvy world, I heard a very clear message: "Pray for each song". And it struck me - YES! Just like a parent would pray for each kid as they send her off each morning to school, filling their desire for her good, their intentions of success and happiness and peace for their child, it made sense to me - pray for each song like they were my kids! Fill them with loving intention, that they will find the right home, the right listener who needs to hear it at the right time; that I surrender and let them go, sending them off in complete faith to somehow mysteriously go about doing their work, beyond my control or ability to promote them or market them - whatever! That they will somehow help heal the massive existential rifts that are occurring right now, or at least help someone along the way.
I've been praying for each one of them by name, especially the ones from the new album. And boom - what happens in the first part of this year??? I get an invite to do a TEDx talk on the Healing Power of Song. I get a call out of the blue to open up for a national artist at the Belly Up Tavern, my favorite place to play of all time. And boom - I found out that my album has been nominated for Best Pop Album of the year by the San Diego Music Awards!! All these things just landed in my lap. Or did they? Are they connected to my intentions? Absolutely.
